Exploring cinematic visualization of traditional objects, this project focuses not just on replicating the Resolza, but on letting its story emerge through texture, light, and material detail.
The handle and bolster were modeled in SubD to handle organic transitions, while the blade and rivets were created in CAD. Sculpting helped define sharper features on the bolster and control how reflections behave, while smaller imperfections were added using normal maps. The entire process was backed by extensive reference gathering and direct observation of real objects.
The most rewarding challenge was developing custom materials to support visual storytelling and reveal signs of use: micro-dents, scratches, light oxidation, and subtle surface variation. The model uses a 4K texture set for close-up shots and details.
Lighting was intentionally cold and dramatic, emphasizing the flowing volumes of the horn handle and the irregular highlights across the metal surfaces. Hope you enjoy it!
